Thought for the Day

One for the introverts -

It is through experience that people change and NOT through theory.

... and remember Introvert/extrovert/RB/LB are just behaviours. You (and your horse) are Not your behaviours.

Thought for the Day

A true friend knows your weaknesses but shows you your strengths;
feels your fears but fortifies your faith;
sees your anxieties but frees your spirit;
recognizes your disabilities but emphasizes your possibilities.

William Arthur Ward

Thought for the Day

"The body posture is a physical reflection of a state of being - mentally, emotionally & physically. Who cares about the shape of an uninspired horse? If you want to talk to body parts, you better start with the heart."

Karen Rohlf.

This applies to humans too!

Thought for the Day

The future is not some place we are going to but one we are creating. The paths to it are not found but made.

John Schaar

Thought for the Day

A Chinese Proverb - "The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it."

as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos recounts,

"Every well-intentioned, high-judgment person we asked told us not to do it."

Thought for the Day

Our ultimate freedom is the right and power to decide how anybody or anything outside ourselves will affect us.

Stephen Covey

Thought for the Day

We should all remember that it's not the destination that counts in life, but the JOURNEY. That journey with the people we love is all that really matters.

As ever I count horses as people, too.

Thought for the Day

If you develop the habits of success, you will make success a habit.

Thought for the day

Inaction breads doubt & fear. Action breeds confidence & courage. If u want to conquer fear, don't sit home & think about it. Go out & get busy!

(source uncertain, but borrowed from Bobbie-May Booty)

Thought for the day

The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision.  You can't blow an uncertain trumpet.

Theodore M. Hesburgh

Thought for the day

If you treat an individual ... as if he were what he ought to be, and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be.

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

I think that "individual" includes horses.

Thought for today

"With confidence, you have won before you have started."

Quote of the Day - Marcus Garvey -

Thought for the Day

Ability is what you're capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you do.
Attitude determines how well you do it.

I'm going to visit James in June!!!!!!!!

One of my Chrissy prezzies from Max is a week at James' with Harley.

Looking forward to a couple of beers with James whilst being totally immersed in the world of Horsemanship.

Expectations

Having had an unusually quite lunch break, I've been reading some of the many forums for those of us wanting to keep it natural and I came across a couple of interlinking items.

The first is on Jerry S. Williams' blog  and is called Raise Your Expectations (link here).

I would suggest everyone should read it. It certainly applies to everyone I know at sometime and most certain applies to me!

A very good reason why you need to come to the study group (amongst other things)

He's Back ...

A very quick blog 'cos if I don't do it now I won't get around to it.

I have just given Harley a month off because we'd done an awful lot since xmas and it was about time he had a break. I don't want to overcook him, so I stopped whilst it was all going well. I rode him tonight for the first time in a month and quite enjoyed it.

Expertise

The book I’m reading at the moment has a chapter which looks at expertise and this seemed somewhat salient, so …
