Elizabeth and Amir's blog

GREAT play session!

Yesterday Amir and I had a GREAT play session and a breakthrough! We played the circling game at the trot. Amir did a wonderful job of maintaining gait and direction. At the end he threw in a little canter too. We then did the figure 8 patterns at the trot for the first time! When I asked him to step up on the plank of wood, he did so right away! He did sooo well! So exciting!

A Very Special Moment

The other day something very special happened. It was in the evening and I was going to get Amir out of his paddock to graze one more time before he had dinner in his stall (we had already played and I had put him in his paddock to clean out his stall). After I gave him his snack of fresh green grass, he stood next to me and allowed me to hug his neck and head for about 10 minutes. As an LBE, Amir always wants to move his feet, so this was really special. I haven't been able to hold his head for more than 1 minute since he was a little baby. It was so lovely!

Just Ordered Levels 1/2!

I just ordered the Levels 1/2 package! I cannot wait until it arrives so we can continue to Level 2!!

It's a gorgeous day!

It is an absolutely beautiful day today! The sun out (finally) and it is actually somewhat warm! I can't wait to go out and play with Amir!

Dog Boarding. . . Naturally!

My mom operates a dog and cat boarding and grooming facility in Julian, CA. The dogs are free to interact with each other, just like at the doggy park! They sleep on their special beds and blankets brought from home inside a heated/air-conditioned room (depending on the weather) which is attached to our house. Also walks and hikes are available for your dog. It's great to see how much the dogs have enjoyed their "stay" at doggy camp, by their enthusiasm to get through the gates on return visits!

Making the Decision

Last July I made the very difficult decision to geld my colt Amir. I want him to have the happiest, healthiest life possible and I know that as a stallion he wouldn't be able to do so. But before he is gelded I am going to have him collected as he has excellent bloodlines (he is by the "Polish legend" *Ecaho and is out of a Kaborr granddaughter who also has lines to *Serafix, *Etiw, Etna, *Karadjorje, *Silver Drift, and more) and is a wonderful example of his breed. The whole procedure will be performed at Alamo Pintado Equine Hospital.
