Spreading the Parelli Word

To protect and promote the principles of Parelli while serving the members who choose to actively share it.

The challenges will be many. As we share our experiences we will have a place to organize our thoughts: what works, what doesn't. Sharing is more than telling others what we do. To be successful we will need to take our circle of influence into consideration, be respectful of others' histories, backgrounds and where they are in their own journey.

"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." We aim to discover those infintesimal things that let us know we are welcome in our sharing. Or not. And respond accordingly. We are all in this together. The horses of the world deserve our very best efforts.

Crossing Thresholds

quick update- i've been slack

So it's been a long while since I've been on here, sorry! I've been very busy riding!!! Yes, I'm working on my freestyle and I am now confidently riding on my own in the round yard and paddock. Archie has been perfect, of course, so I decided to take him to the recent play day where we played online which was awesome, and then i hopped on for 20 min in the arena where other people were riding and playing online, Archie was so good, a little more animated but my confidence is such that I was okay with that.

The Importance of Doing the Unexpected

Before I began studying Parelli Natural Horsemanship I never thought much about the fact that I was a predator or that my beloved first horse, Max, was a prey animal.   In fact the very term predator, rather than evoking in my mind the natural image of lion or a wolf, carried instead the negative connotations associated with that sub-human group of people who prey on those who can’t defend themselves, children, animals and the eld

The Gift of Curiosity

Horses come to our rescue from all kinds of situations and even when we have a reasonably complete history of a new horse, we seldom know exactly what to expect.  While many horses arrive malnourished or with injuries that require veterinary care, it is often the horses with emotional issues that are the most difficult to diagnose and rehabilitate. This was the case with Oscar.

Recognizing the Slightest Try

Recognizing the Slightest Try

During my natural horsemanship journey I have often had instructors tell me to reward the slightest try and I have worked hard to do that with my partner, Sonny. But this summer during a clinic with John and Kathy Barr I gained a new appreciation of just how subtle the slightest try might actually be.

Savoring an "Ah-HA" Moment

I had an “ah-ha” moment in my riding lesson this week and I want to savor it. You see I am not much of an “ah-ha” moment learner. My learning progress is one more of reflection than instant flashes of insight. I’ll do something and then I will go home and think about what happened. I mull things over, replay them in my mind and eventually insight might dawn on me. But to have that exciting flash where everything is suddenly clear, well that just doesn’t

Susan Castels' Play Day

I haven't written in a while, i know. Sorry! It's been pretty hectic! I have been preparing for Princess to go to stud, she has moved to her new paddock which is foal safe, she'll be there for the duration, she likes it there as it is familiar for her and she has horses on all sides so she's never alone. 6 weeks till she goes in foal! wow! I took Princess to my first ever outing with her to 2* Instuctor Susan Castels' place in Nairne for a playday and she was absolutely spectacular! We video taped a few minutes playing in the round yard at Liberty.

Parelli Enthusiasts???

 Good day All o/

I was wondering if there were any Parelli Enthusiasts near Regina, SK Canada !?

I'm just starting out in my Parelli and would really enjoy meeting like minded peoples of whom I could converse with, learn from and possibly get some help when it is needed.

Take care all and Ride Safe o/

a day of "firsts"

On Saturday I drove to one of my agistments to pick up my friends float for a horsey play day. I hitched up all by myself for the first time. Took half an hour, you know, because of the angle of where the float was parked and i've only have my 4WD for 2 months so yeah, I'm sure that's why it took so long :o) Then I drove over to my other agistment to get my horse Archie. I loaded him on my own, which I've done before, so he was perfect. I drove by myself over an hour to a friends place, which was my first visit to her new home.

This is AHQA Stallion Bootscootin Zipper, chosen for his temperament, his conformation and with a colour bonus! He throws lovely even-tempered golden babies, and mostly buckskins to bays.

Princess (AAA Killara's Rapt in Silk) Extreme snowcap bay appy mare.

a big new adventure- with pictures :o)

So, I've leased a broodmare! I was offered a lovely 13 year old appy mare to breed from, and after a long hard think, I've decided to go ahead with it, mostly because of the timing and the oportunity to have a foal from this absolutely darling sweet stunning mare. Princess as we call her, is an extreme snowcap bay appy- otherwise known as a fewspot- with the most perfect temperament and conformation.

Conscious Incompetence :o)

One month on from Fast Track and still the learning continues. I can't believe how much I picked up without realising it. Now when I play with the boys I find so much of what I was doing before was only just the tip of the iceburg.I now have the knowledge to build and expand upon what we're doing together, and my horses are loving me for it! I am stimulating, intersting and fun!

Getting to Pagosa!!

Hello everyone!

I will be traveling with my four-legged partner from NE saskatchewan to the Pagosa Springs campus for a flex track course Aug 15-26th, 2011.

I am wondering if any one out there has any tips for Canada-USA border crossings, long distance hauling, necesary paperwork, expected border delays, etc???

I have hauled up to 1400km, but that is it, and never across the border.

Any help would be most appreciated!!!!

Keep it natural,

Jigger & Alex

@ Fast Track Australia part 2

so we've been lucky with the weather up till now, started getting soggy about lunh time and has cooled down a few degrees too much, be careful what you wish for! Most of the time it's hot and sticky lol. Our days at the moment are filled with demos, workshops, theory, mucking, practicing, playing and eating! And that's only the people, not to mention adding horses in, but it's been great! Learning sooo much, Noah is going well, except a little muscle soreness right now. Am updating some pics to FB at the moment as a bit of a keepsake for this mamoth trip.

@ Fast Track Australia

So here we are nearly half way through the first ever Aus Fast Track!!! Wow what a journey. It's crazy how much you learn about your horse and more so what you learn about yourself! The emotional ups and downs can be tough to weather, the WEATHER can be tough to weather too- all ovewr the shop. There are 23 of us, from 18 to 60+ i'd guess (no names as I may go missing in the night lols) Noah is so much more cahllanging that I imagined he could be, and no matter how competant you thik you are at home,.
