To litttle saavy

After 3 months of pain from a bad hip, surgery that followed I am almost ready to continue my journey.  I have had a lot of time to reflect on our relationship.  I have been watching the videos as I can't do much else yet. Maybe it was good that I had to give up my spot with Jesse Peters this time.  I plan on spending a lot of time moseying and using undemanding time. Poor Storm must think I have abandoned him.  My RBE is slow to trust with consistancy, much less with out it.

Meggie Allen will be at Dream Catcher Farm

Fresh from the fast track in Florida, Meggie Allen will be available for private and/or group lessons April 23, 2011.  We will be starting at 9 am.. Anyone interested please contact either Meggie or myself Terri at 734-341-4178

Howdy All!

Hello! I'm Ms. Roy Ahrens. I've been a Savvy Club member since I think 2006, and a Level 1 Grad. I'm new to the "Blogging" scene! I am 51 years young and I have 11 horses I'm responsible for. Some I do not own however. I think that Mary Ann Kenedy wrote the song "I'm  A Horse Addict" with me in mind! I am a seasonal worker; irrigating, and tractor work in the growing season. I live in the good ole US of A; southern Idaho to be exact!

Encouraging Session

Gabby is a horse that tolerates humans pretty well. (5 Y/O RBI/LBI Arab/Paint gelding) He knows what I want & wants to please, but he hasn't really bought into the partnership thing yet. He'll put his head down, but then it goes right back up. He'll flex toward me when I'm haltering him, but as soon as I start to lift the noseband, his head goes up & his nose turns away. He's also very reactive & defensive... even when he seems relaxed standing beside me, licking-n-chewing, his feet are positioned perfectly for the great escape.

The night before the night before christmas.

I'd have to describe Cayleigh as fragile.

My tough minded, strong, charming, brave little girl is fragile!

I've been going slow and paying a lot of attention to her reaction. Our new game of having two feet out of the stall, letting me stand at her shoulder and turning her head towards me for the halter is working well. Pretty much I(we) win the game every time and...

Just Do It!

... this can't wait any longer. If I wait to begin my blog with an introduction to me and my horses--an intro I'm happy with--I'll never start actually writing about what we're doing "today." So, here we go. Just the basics.

I'm a official Level 1 Parelli student with a Level 3 score On Line. I rode as a kid from 4 to about 15 and then had to quit because of lousy cartilege in my knees. Fast forward about 35 years. I found Parelli and discovered by painful knees were from lack of balance point & bracing in my stirrups.

Enter my second childhood.

Merry christmas

parelli courses

Hi i'm new here and would love to do a course on parelli, but dont have a lot money to do so. Does anyone out there know of any other options for me.

Hey! That's MY space.

Well, a few weeks ago  I tripped upon a surprising place for Cayleigh.

Outside of a few little things when I first got her and the fact that she plants her butt to my chest when doing UDT for scratches Cayleigh has a great deal of respect for my space. She goes forward and back while leading and doesn't crowd me while playing games. She want to be near and does express that preference but not in a way that feels like crowding or disrespecting my space.

A Journey Around 3/4s of the Horsenality Circle

I've been warned again and again that Arabs are "crazy". Even Arab horse owners on the Savvy Club Forum are proud of just how many corners of the Horsenality chart their horses exist in. Cayleigh has been pretty straight forward for me, an LBI with some minor LBE tenancies. Not strongly in any particular corner but generally a pleasure to play with even if she can be a bit stubborn.

Arabian Sport Horse Nationals

This weekend we went to the arabian sport horse nationals and while walking down the aisles looking at the horses laying next to a stall i saw a parelli halter! After this i began looking and discovered there were people doing parelli at a national level... and winning WOW!! it is so great to be able to go to a larger show and not want to leave after 20 minutes. I am so glad to see people look at horses as partners not machines and doing what is best for the horse not what gets you a ribbon. Has anyone else noticed parelli seeping into the show world?

BE PROGRESSIVE

I just spend another amazing 2 days with Jesse Peters in South Lyon, Mi.  His insights are always interesting and informative. He has a great eye and really shows how the little details develop into the big picture. Always honest, but kind and very helpful. Storm and I have had a wonderful journey that I hope continues for a long time. I know that I must stay positive and progessive with by RBE who is very sensitive and needs constant reasurance that his world is safe.

I have a lot of homework to do, but it will be my pleasure... trying to stay natural

Region 3 Arab show Parelli Games demo

After a year of planning and persuasion, my idea made its’ debut during the Region 3 Arabian Horse show in Reno July 11 – 17, 2010. It started after the Region 3 show last year when I realized that what I had learned in the Parelli program should be shared with the Arabian industry. With the help of a few key people, I was able to make my presentation to the Region 3 show committee in February of 2009. In 10 minutes I was able to convince the show committee to allow me a chance to do a demo of the Parelli Games during t
