The pupose of this group is to allow all those interested in Parelli in the South East to have a point of contact. We can share stories and ideas, let eachother know about up coming clinicsand demos so no-one has to miss a thinga can get the best support for their journey!

Many of us are alone when we begin this journey and it can be hard to be the only one doing something "against the norm". This shall be a rallying point, a place to go when you feel lonely and a place to share your victories with like minded people.

Confused of Maidstone

Hiya, I have been a follower of the many natural horsemanship techniques out there for a while, and hopefully I do consider most of what I do with my horse from the horse's point of view. But now I am a mature student studying behavioural science and welfare I am starting to get confused. There are many techniques; Monty Roberts, Parelli, Positive Horse Magic, and they all are distinct, and all seem to work, so I've decided I need to learn more and make distinctions so I can see what the differences are.

At the celebration I invested in this report and was staggered to find Namara is RBE - not the calm gentle mare I thought she was but since reading it and watching Namara I agree completely with the assessment.  There are many miniture signs that she displays that I have overlooked - a big loud cheer for Namara for managing to be so wonderful and gentle dispite having me blunder along with her.  I have taken a massive step back and am reassessing all her level 1 and level 2 work with new eyes and noting the areas that she is not comfortable with and I am finding that she is watchi

I'm organising a Parelli Demo at Willow Farm followed by (hopefully) monthly play days throughout the year as we have indoor and outdoor schools.

Please let me know if you are interested and if so if a Friday evening sounds good to you? (For the demo?)

Also please let me know which day(s) would be best for you for playdays and morning or afternoon?

We are hoping to use a spare paddock as a playground also and will be building various obstacles (bridges, car washes etc?)

Venue: Stone Cross, nr. Pevensey, East Sussex.
Focus: A 3-hour horseless workshop which will help you to read your horse and give you strategies to build trust, confidence, willingness and obedience, while continuing to expand your groundskills.
Logistics: Registration at 9.30am for a 10am start. Ends 1pm.

Sun 23rd Jan - Level 1/2: Preparing to ride / Beginning freestyle riding

Venue: Chailey Stud, North Chailey, East Sussex, BN8 4HE
Focus: For those moving from Level 1 to Level 2 this workshop will set you up for freestyle riding. Participants will be split into two groups, giving you three hours of tuition with your horse plus simulations, theory and observation time.

 It has been ages since I have blogged.  Mainly as Jack and I have been happily revisiting lots of things, hacking out in the last of the evenings, and doing lots of nice stuff but nothing of note.  Since we went to the Terri Martinus clinics over the summer we have also been working on getting a good stand still which for Jack is very difficult.

Here it is at last! Finally got it together with welcome help from Rach Evans our local PP.

Well done Rach, for excellent video, no fuzzy bits and wobblies. O boy that gate would NOT open, but J was savvy and stood like a fencepost while I faffed around!

This is a fantastic opportunity to study with David Lichman, 5* Parelli Professional.

David will be here for two days on 30-31 October at Cobalt Stud, North Chailey in mid Sussex. The course will be in a large indoor arena with plenty of gallery seating. Hot and cold drinks are provided but please bring your own lunch. Each day starts at 9.30am and finishes around 5pm.

Full of enthusiasm I brought Namara in to play after our wonderful follow the rail experience the day before yesterday and o oh hormones were almost as high as her head and her rbe state so we stayed in the arena playing follow the rail until she relaxed - approx 45 mins, so we stopped there.  I went out today and found (very deperessingly) that she was unlevel on her near hind - probably twisted it when her hormons were high and she was rbe, so play with the horse you have - I grommed her and gave her an Equine Touch treatment and let her back out with her friend.  Hey ho I wonde

Follow the rail is going well in the school and we have started the canter, so I thought I would up the stakes and start the game in the small (1 acre) paddock.Straight off my RBE bounced jiggled and wandered off the straight but after many small circles back to the rail she got the message and flipped to LBI and stopped "Nop never moving again - no point".

And then, all of a sudden, it just felt right

Update on course with Jackie Chant

 We have been unable to fill the course with Jackie so she is now offering private lessons for anyone in the area between 2nd to 7th August! Private lessons are £120 for 2hrs. group lesson £250 for 3hrs, 2-5 riders. This is a great oppurtunity for some one to one tuition with a fantastic instructor! Hi guys, in case you don't know Jackie Chant, 4 star parelli professional, is in the UK at the moment and we have some spaces left on the course! She'll be in Kent for 3 days between 2nd and 6th August, we're aiming for an advanced level 2/3 course with a focus on finesse - but depending on how the course fills up there is also the potential for private lessons.
Jackie is a fantastic instructor and it's an amazing opportunity to have a 4 star professional in the area so don't miss out!

 Jack Never stands still.  Never.  With Parelli there have been huge improvements over the last couple of years.  But he still paws, and fidgets, and moves side to side.  That is when mounting, when ridden he does fidgety halt, grooming, everything.  At the clinic  I was told when he fidgets, move his feet........LOTS.  Don't try and make him stand still.  Then when he looks fed up and wants to stop, allow him to stop where you want him to stand.
