Friday night is club night

I can't believe that it's already time for our second local parelli group meeting.

How exciting!

The discussion topic is horsenalities - should make for lot's of interesting stories.

I've already dug out my horsenality charts for Spirits and re-read the horsenality articles on the savvy vault.

We trailer loaded!

Yesterday morning was rainy, windy and muddy.  As I looked out of my kitchen window I contemplated not even attempting to go to the playday.  Each time I thought about loading, my mind centred on our last disaster when Spirit bolted, crossed a busy main road and then cavorted around the country side.  But I tried to remember my PMA....

dark in the morning, dark in the evening....

Can't believe it's got to this stage of the year so quickly....funny how it sneaks up.

I've gotten quite used to getting the horses in by moonlight each night - long may the clear nights continue.  At least walking them back to the stables from the field is giving them lot's of friendly whilst passing spooky shadows - they aren't afraid of the dark any more.  Even scardy cat Spirit is starting to be inquisitive about the things that go bump in the night.

7 games

Hey everyone,

Did the driving game today really enjoyed it Moo did it all right he got a few steps away from me without me touching him

HORRAYYY!!!!!!!!!

I got him to go backwards too, but had to touch him to teach him he got mardy and put on a face ears back. Good face impressions though.

Got him too stand still without me doing anything and part of the yo yo game getting him to come to me. I love him so much he's the best pony i've ever rode only if he could see this.

At last....a plan which went to plan!

Yesterday was a great day....wait, a really great day.  The sun was shining and I woke with a plan in mind to play with all three of the tribe before the day was out.

For once the plan actually worked out....and then some.

Amber - James practised his one rein stop and phases to go.  How can I not be a proud mum when my 7 yr old son tells me how he'd rather practice stopping than starting?!  He even tells me to hurry up and wait now whilst he sits rubbing his pony.  It's amazing to see his and Ambers confidence grow.

all alone!!! poor Kirky!!

Poor Kirky has been blogging alone for so long!!!!  AHHHHHHHHHH ,

My update is ..... once again my night stalkers have returned ( THIEVES ) ... i knew they would return within a month from their last visit , taking over £3000 worth of kit on their first visit ! this time with nothing more to take they kidnapped my best broody hen and her new babies 5 in total ! i love my little chickens and to find them gone is devastating they were destined to have a wonderful free range life but now i wonder where they may end up !!,

A lovely sunny day....

What a day!  We had been promised a heatwave this weekend but it didn't look likely yesterday evening or even early this morning.  The wellies and jumpers were still on complete with woolie hat and big coat to turn out first thing.

But there was still lots to do so we all piled down with the quad.  By 10am the jumpers were off and we all basked in the lovely sunshine as we completed the chores.  We moved all the poo, tidied the yard, the kids rode, the horses manes & tails were washed, the fencing was fixed, the feed was fertlised...

Physio free....yippee!

Hallelujah! Today's visit to the physio was my last.  Being a very good girl and doing my exercises have paid off - my wrist now has 95% movement and the strength will return over time.  My physio has decided that she no longer needs to see me.  I've never been so happy for someone to say 'never darken my door again!'

This weekend is also going to be dry and warm  - a great chance to get back to normal and play with my horse for the first time since the middle of August.

I'm so excited!!

A great first social evening.....

Last night was the first get together of equine partners without horses.

Over 15 people turned up - a mixture of familiar faces and new friends.  There was definitely a lot to talk about.

It was great to look around the room to see so many 'local' parelli people - we are fortunate to have such a great network of support.

Plans are already starting for the next social evening....can't wait!!

very excited - our first social night is this Friday....

and I can't wait.

For one reason or another we haven't managed to attend a single playday or event this year - not good!  And breaking my wrist has left me wondering where to start....isn't it hard to get started once you get out of the habit?

Hopefully the meeting on Friday will help to get me back on track and I'm looking forward to catching up with all the local parelli people.

Janine, our local 1* PP, is also coming to the social, should be great fun.

Physio - an exercise in patience

I went to my appt with the Physio today full of optimism that a few simple exercises and all would be back to normal for my wrist.  It's now been 6 weeks since it broke - but it feels like much more.

The Physio was absolutely lovely and really tried to understand my lifestyle and hobbies so that we could find a good way forward.

Prognosis is 8 weeks to get my strength and flexion back, 6 months for the nerve damage to heal!

Looks like I've got a few more evenings of watching dvds before I can get back playing and riding.

MRIs done - Wednesday is Consultant day

Had my MRI on Wednesday which was a completely bizarre experience - 40 minutes in a large metal polo mint with the sound of jack hammers around my ears!

Got to wait until Wednesday for the Consultant to tell me what they show.  I'm keeping positive....

In the meantime, James continues to be a helping hand on the yard.  He must be becoming a better horseboy as Amber (LBE) keeps trying to win the 'who can move who's feet' game....James now understands it and realises that his pony doesn't hate him, he just needs to win the game.

Cody's progress

Now 4yrs old and playing in level 2 cody has come on leaps and bounds, Being a LBE he's such fun , a lightning learner and very funny!! for the last week weve spent the days playing in his treeless saddle, and hes now happily playing as if it was always there!, on occasions he grabs the stirrups and gives them a good tug as if to say hey howd you get there!!!, after a great session of changing gait on the 22ft line and squeezing over jumps (and BOY can he jump!!!)  he jumps my electric fencing for fun!! he's 13h

Time for the kids....wrist is still sore

As well as my LBI partner Spirit, I also have Sam and a dartmoor pony called Amber.  Amber came to live with us when I was still 99% normo and thought it would be great to have a pony for my then 3yr old son to do pony classes at the local show.  OMG, how much our lives have changed in the last 4 years - definitely for the better.

india

Glad to hear you are back on focus India!!!! we all loose our focus from time to time!! sounds like you have been very busy , keep us all updated!!

My wrist is no longer broken

The trip to the hospital today was a case of good news bad news.

The good news is that the xrays showed no obvious brakes or fractures so I no longer have a broken wrist.

The bad news is that the pain is still agony.  So much so that the Consultant reduced me to tears on several occasions whilst trying to establish the problem.  How embarassing!

Suspected ligament damage is now the diagnosis which hopefully be confirmed by and MRI scan next Wednesday.

I have a funny feeling that ligaments can be trickier to heal than bones.....

Full throttle with a little problem....

Just as me and Noblehorse and me comitted to a full throttle plan of action to ensure that we achieve our goals of 2010 life got in the way!

Unfortunately, 2 days before going on hols I slipped in the field and broke my right wrist.  Three weeks on and the pain is getting worse so have an appt with a Consultant tomorrow to see what needs to be done.
