Winter in New Zealand - what are you all doing with your horses?

Hi everyone,

I'm sick of the rain and cold, and just wondered what you are all managing to do with your horses at this time of the year.

Bonnie's foal Aurelia is now five months old and growing rapidly, eating "like a horse", I'm running out of hay, and I hardly get any time to spend with them due to working pretty much full time.  The paddocks are mud, the horses are covered in mud, it's dark early and I hate being cold and wet!! Grumble grumble...

I'm trying to spend some quality time each week with Aurelia to continue her education and get her desensitised to all those nasty things like plastic bags and rain coats, and motor vehicles, but that's about all I'm managing to do other than feed them.  They are going through at least five bales of hay a week, more when it gets really cold, so filling up the hay feeders is my main job at the moment :)
