Change of saddle

hey all

in the process of thinking about changing saddle and would very much like some advice.

i had a longish ride of our icelandic yesterday, and have found that the saddle we have is getting far to uncomfortable for me.

we currently have a 16,5 english dressage saddle, and size wise it fits my mrs but it is far too small for me.  i find the only way to sit comfortably is to sit quite far back in the saddle at the expense of a good seat, or if i sit to get a good seat i find that my anatomy (i'm a guy) doesn't allow this and my legs are extremely un comfortable.

so the thought at the moment is that i find a saddle which fits me (and the horse) which can be used for hacks and distance rides, and the dressage for competitions.

I am thinking about either a western saddle, or a western style treeless saddle.  and i could do with some advise as to which type would be better suited to an icelandic, as we want both the trot and tölt.

price is an issue so so a top end saddle is out of  the question.

any help is greatly appriciated.
