A horse is just a horse no matter on its sex, height or colour.

Unarmed cowboy rides again

My name is Chuck Petersen. I live in Deer Lodge Montana. Recently I purchased, 1/2, program from Parelli. I am going to give this program a try. I love watching it on video. My concern is however, I have no arms and do everything with my feet. My horses already cue into my feet when it is time for treats. They don't check my pockets but they check my shoes for the goodies. My main concern is handling the tools required for this program. I have accomplished many things in my life. However, having a relationship with my horse like I have seen others have is a dream come true.

Farrier School

I recently had a discussion with one of my horsemanship students who is due to graduate soon.   He expressed a strong desire to go to farrier school before moving on with his college education.  We've looked at several schools, but haven't decided on one yet.   If any one has advice or tips on a particular school or on farrier schools in general I'd love to hear from ya at

Update on Painted Dreams

Ok, 3 foals this year, two black and white colts, one bay and white colt (now gelding).  Lovely boys, and I'm proud as punch.

Cadbury is going well, Cougar is 100% sound and bred like a star, all 5 mares covered are in foal for this year.

Survivied the floods, very sad for some families, we are doing our best for donations as we were also affected.  Two of our horses for sale will have half of their sale money donated for the flood victims, and have donated a service for a service auction.

Circle of strength #2 ---Why Horses?

I am a therapeutic riding instructor for the disabled.  I got into it because I don't have arms but I love horses.  I have been talking about this Parelli system of training horses to some of my friends and they asked me why the hell I spend time with these dangerous animals especially because I am an amputee.

Circle of strength-#one

My name is Chuck.  I live in Montana.  I am a retired special education teacher.  I currently have two horses.  I have a 13 year old paint mare, and a 15-year-old gray mare.

A big hello to everyone from savvy Scotland!

My name is Joanne, I'm 16 years old and I'm glad to be just starting out on my parelli journey.  I joined the Savvy Club a couple of months ago and am hoping to achieve my level 1 by the end of the year.

Cougar is healing 3

Well, his bandages are off after the vet's last proud flesh removal, and I have left them off, hoping that a bit of air will help.  The small wound that is left has scabbed, which I was hoping to stop the proud flesh.  He is coping well without bandages, and there is no more swelling without the bandages, so I am happy.  Had someone come out today to see him for stud duties, so he may have his first outside mare this breeding season.

Thanks for reading.

Cougar is healing 2

Vet came out yesterday, was very happy with his progress, cut the last bit of proud flesh off back to the skin line so it can heal faster, and said to try to get him bandage free as soon as possible.  Happy with his weight (has put on his weight again) and said he also looks very happy within himself now,

Thanks for reading.

Cougar is healing

Just thought I'd share my happiness that my paint stallion Cougar's injured leg is progressing well.

New to SE Qld

We moved to Allora, near Warwick last year, and I still haven't found anyone to have play days with!  Is there anyone around this area who wants to have play days.  I have 28 acres, a play area with a dam, an arena, a steel round yard and even horses for someone to play with.  Would love to hear from other savvy people in my area.
