The importance of Time

I had the pleasure of playing with my little icemare Glodis RI. It started of pretty bad, tried to get her to the stable by liberty. We made it but I needed to get the halter on as soon as I could to not risk anything if she would blow up.

On our way to the paddock, I thought a lot about mirroring her energy by taking deep breaths and doing everything in slooow motion. We went on, dragging our self forward, then I saw her getting more RB and I stopped did some approach and retreat. Then sniff some things, and I had such trouble reading her so I just stopped and observed her with one eye. She wasn’t really LB, looked like she wanted to ask me, but didn’t have the courage. Just waited for almost an eternity and then she came to me and liked her lips. When I then asked her to go with me her walk was completely changed! Her whole body looked more relaxed and her ears were pointing straight forward. It’s unbelievable how important that time was for her!

From there on she started to ask a lot more and even offer some new things. Even the figure 8, she started to trot and it was just amazing. But I realized now I should have ended it there, but she is very hard for me to read and I don’t know if I should move on or stay a little bit longer...

But I need to remember to keep the sessions short, cause the better it goes, the harder it gets to keep my energy down, which never ends well with a RB I.

Thank u Pat and Linda for making this possible.
