9th may
It has been ages since I have come on here. All my college assignments just over took.
Here is a brief update on how the horses have been.
Foxy
Well she is now back in full ridden work and going quite well whilst still being her cheeky self. I rode her yesterday in the rain, we were doing some jumping, she had decided she wouldn't jump the jumps until I put them up and even then she would still trot over them at 1'7". I have got someone coming to look at her next weekend hopefully, and well hopefully this goes ok. If not then my friend has offered to do a swap for the summer, as she wants my to start her 3yr old off in ridden work. So Foxy might end up there doing loads of hacking and hopefully some showjumping classes.
Red
Well theres not much to say about her, she is the same as always. She is doing well under saddle although found the hackamore confusing, so I have left that for a bit so that I can focus on her fitness a bit more.
Bob
Well he has had an eventful couple of months. He went lame one day when i was riding him so I gave him a week and half of rest and then tried trotting him up again and he was still lame, so out the vet came. He was diagnosed with arthritis in both his hocks and pasterns in both hind legs. He was then given a further 2 weeks rest whilst he was on bute, and then slowly weaned him off the bute and brought him back into slow work. So he has only been back in work for the last 2 weeks, he is going well, just so light and responsive, there is nothing like riding your own horse again. However I have been told that he can't ever be jumped again and that he is reduced down to just flat work. He doesn't have as much energy any more so I am hoping he might enjoy going out hacking a bit more and just playing with me. I'm not sure how long he will stay sound for but I'll have to make the most of it.
