Cody: Progress!

The last three days have been fantastic! He stands still for tacking up, and is pretty good about me getting on now. But only when I'm taking my time. If he knows I'm at all excited or have no patients its a whole new ball game.

On June 5th when I got on it went great. We started out just walking around. Passenger riding with me occasionally asking for him to turn. During this I discovered that he really doesnt like turning to the left. But is better going to the right! When we got some good turns in I decided I was going to risk it and try asking for jog. Although it wasnt easy I have to thank Imp for starting to jog beside us! What a beautiful jog!! So this is where I left it.

On June 6th I saddled up and got on just as the day before. Obviously playing a bit on the ground first. Just went I got on, I could feel things turning sour. I just had this funny feeling that something was building up, so after being on for 3 minutes I got off and we played on the ground. Sure enough I was right.. we had some bucking, and rearing! Glad I got off!

On June 7th (today)! What a wonderful day! I saddled up and got on as if Id done it 1000 times before. We wondered around the tiny portable fence and eventually got mom to open the one side up so we can venture out further. Then we picked up a little bit of jog! After a bit of that I slowed things down, and grabbed the carrot stick, and played some friendly, porcupine, and driving the front end! WhenI got off and was unsaddling my mom surprised me when a horse trailer pulled into the drive way! Although it was empty (prob a good thing) it is now parked in our driveway and needs a little welding before I use it locally and for our big journey to Colorado! Guess I can check a few tasks off my self assessment list today, and buying a trailer off my "things i still need to do list"!
