Natural Journey

Getting a natural group together in the south of  Tasmania

quick update- i've been slack

So it's been a long while since I've been on here, sorry! I've been very busy riding!!! Yes, I'm working on my freestyle and I am now confidently riding on my own in the round yard and paddock. Archie has been perfect, of course, so I decided to take him to the recent play day where we played online which was awesome, and then i hopped on for 20 min in the arena where other people were riding and playing online, Archie was so good, a little more animated but my confidence is such that I was okay with that.

Susan Castels' Play Day

I haven't written in a while, i know. Sorry! It's been pretty hectic! I have been preparing for Princess to go to stud, she has moved to her new paddock which is foal safe, she'll be there for the duration, she likes it there as it is familiar for her and she has horses on all sides so she's never alone. 6 weeks till she goes in foal! wow! I took Princess to my first ever outing with her to 2* Instuctor Susan Castels' place in Nairne for a playday and she was absolutely spectacular! We video taped a few minutes playing in the round yard at Liberty.

a day of "firsts"

On Saturday I drove to one of my agistments to pick up my friends float for a horsey play day. I hitched up all by myself for the first time. Took half an hour, you know, because of the angle of where the float was parked and i've only have my 4WD for 2 months so yeah, I'm sure that's why it took so long :o) Then I drove over to my other agistment to get my horse Archie. I loaded him on my own, which I've done before, so he was perfect. I drove by myself over an hour to a friends place, which was my first visit to her new home.

This is AHQA Stallion Bootscootin Zipper, chosen for his temperament, his conformation and with a colour bonus! He throws lovely even-tempered golden babies, and mostly buckskins to bays.

Princess (AAA Killara's Rapt in Silk) Extreme snowcap bay appy mare.

a big new adventure- with pictures :o)

So, I've leased a broodmare! I was offered a lovely 13 year old appy mare to breed from, and after a long hard think, I've decided to go ahead with it, mostly because of the timing and the oportunity to have a foal from this absolutely darling sweet stunning mare. Princess as we call her, is an extreme snowcap bay appy- otherwise known as a fewspot- with the most perfect temperament and conformation.

Conscious Incompetence :o)

One month on from Fast Track and still the learning continues. I can't believe how much I picked up without realising it. Now when I play with the boys I find so much of what I was doing before was only just the tip of the iceburg.I now have the knowledge to build and expand upon what we're doing together, and my horses are loving me for it! I am stimulating, intersting and fun!

Farrier School

I recently had a discussion with one of my horsemanship students who is due to graduate soon.   He expressed a strong desire to go to farrier school before moving on with his college education.  We've looked at several schools, but haven't decided on one yet.   If any one has advice or tips on a particular school or on farrier schools in general I'd love to hear from ya at

@ Fast Track Australia part 2

so we've been lucky with the weather up till now, started getting soggy about lunh time and has cooled down a few degrees too much, be careful what you wish for! Most of the time it's hot and sticky lol. Our days at the moment are filled with demos, workshops, theory, mucking, practicing, playing and eating! And that's only the people, not to mention adding horses in, but it's been great! Learning sooo much, Noah is going well, except a little muscle soreness right now. Am updating some pics to FB at the moment as a bit of a keepsake for this mamoth trip.

@ Fast Track Australia

So here we are nearly half way through the first ever Aus Fast Track!!! Wow what a journey. It's crazy how much you learn about your horse and more so what you learn about yourself! The emotional ups and downs can be tough to weather, the WEATHER can be tough to weather too- all ovewr the shop. There are 23 of us, from 18 to 60+ i'd guess (no names as I may go missing in the night lols) Noah is so much more cahllanging that I imagined he could be, and no matter how competant you thik you are at home,.

Fast Track coming up WAAAAYYY too Fast

So less than three weeks till we make our cross country trek from Adelaide to Wilton. Wow this has gone so quickly, I feel like I need more time but at the same time I can't wait to get there. We have a brand new tent, new float we've renovated, new clothes, new tack, renewed enthusiasm as it approaches. But my Pony is getting sick of working and is playing up in even the simplest games- especially circle. He tries so hard to focus with some things, and focuses way too much on how to get out of others!!! But I guess that's why we are going- to fast track our progress.

New EVERYTHING!

 HI y'all!

I'm Samantha, I've been in Parelli for about 10 years now. I went away for three of those and now I have just moved out to the country to a nice place with a barn, pastures, etc. I love it.

I have an 11 year old OTTB. He and I were about level 2 when I went on my hiatus. Groove is an LBI. And quite a love bug!

I recently bought another OTTB as I am getting back into horses and Parelli. She is 4. and sure is a challenge, but a good one. Capri is an RBI.

Happy Days! Videos of me and my boys playing!

So this is some video of me, my Archie and my little Noah having a play in the arena together, and then the second video is just Archie and I, but this time I am the one holding the camera- fun times!

Archie Update

Capable trail rider wanted for rescue mare

Luna has had a lot of work and is now ready to find her forever home. She is 16yrs however she looks more like 6! And stands at a very solid 15.1 or so. She has show quality looks, dark bay with lovely star, perfect confirmation and lovely big movement. She has a good Standie type canter and naturally tracks under in a walk and trot, doesnt pace. Luna was used as a broodie by prev owners who also starved and neglected her so would prefer those days be left behind her- to help her get the best second start she has had 5 months under saddle, green but behaves.

My Horror Day!

Right now as I write this I am battling to keep my eyes open. It has been a very stressfull and rest-free holiday season so far, and today didn't make things any better. Archie somehow got his lower jaw stuck under his chest strap on his rug. He tried backing up to get out of it but it was stuck fast behind his eye teeth. He then realised he'd put his leg through a fence and then tried to go forward, cutting his scarred leg (minor cut) and ripping a big hole in the fence.

My Rude Horse

Recently I emailed the gang at Parelli Central to find out how to handle my horse Can-Do. When I ask her to change directions or send her on a circle she shoots the middle finger at me. She does what I ask 100% of the time and with such sensitivity, but she doesn't see me as leader yet. Before I could get my response from Parelli, I went out yesterday to see what I could do. I put her on a 12' line to keep it simple and I asked for the send. Sure enough she was rude! I shook the rope at her and looked at her like "you better wipe that look off of your face" and quess what?
