Never Ending Self Improvement

Sharing, supporting, and encouraging, never ending self improvement.

Progress

unfortunately i have been working over the weekend so today was the first day that i have been able to ride jack again since our lovely hack out.

A little break through

Yesterday jack and i went for a wander up the lane as per farriers orders. since jack had laminitis his feet have been growing really well and coming through at a nice angle but the part of the hoof that was laminitic now needs to be worn away and the best way for us to do that is long walks on a harder surface.

Training in the Relaxation

I have been trying to write this post for the last two days!

quick update- i've been slack

So it's been a long while since I've been on here, sorry! I've been very busy riding!!! Yes, I'm working on my freestyle and I am now confidently riding on my own in the round yard and paddock. Archie has been perfect, of course, so I decided to take him to the recent play day where we played online which was awesome, and then i hopped on for 20 min in the arena where other people were riding and playing online, Archie was so good, a little more animated but my confidence is such that I was okay with that.

Ride for Tomorow

Since i passed my level 3 Liberty and Online late last year, the first audition that i wanted jack and i to work towards this year was Freestyle level 3.

I PASSED!!

I HAVE JUST PASSED MY LEVEL 3 ONLINE AND LIBERTY AUDITION WITH AN OVERALL SCORE OF 3+!! I EVEN HAD SOME TICKS IN THE LEVEL 4 BOXES!

Susan Castels' Play Day

I haven't written in a while, i know. Sorry! It's been pretty hectic! I have been preparing for Princess to go to stud, she has moved to her new paddock which is foal safe, she'll be there for the duration, she likes it there as it is familiar for her and she has horses on all sides so she's never alone. 6 weeks till she goes in foal! wow! I took Princess to my first ever outing with her to 2* Instuctor Susan Castels' place in Nairne for a playday and she was absolutely spectacular! We video taped a few minutes playing in the round yard at Liberty.

we have done so much!

dont you just hate it when your internet stops working, especially when you and horse do some super things and you cant write about it! i actually have a list of the cool things me and jack have done over the last couple of weeks!

lead by tail, stick to me canter, 's' pattern

i love stationary. pens, paper, you name it i love it! so when i decided to get organised on what games jack and i needed to learn for our auditions i decided to write it down with pen and paper! i bought a cork board and post it notes. one game to one post it note, all neatly arranged in lines under the titles 'online','liberty' and 'freestyle'. it took me an afternoon but i thoroughly enjoyed it!

Jack is definately feeling better! :)

today was the first proper play session that me and jack have had since he was unwell and he is definatley feeling better!

a day of "firsts"

On Saturday I drove to one of my agistments to pick up my friends float for a horsey play day. I hitched up all by myself for the first time. Took half an hour, you know, because of the angle of where the float was parked and i've only have my 4WD for 2 months so yeah, I'm sure that's why it took so long :o) Then I drove over to my other agistment to get my horse Archie. I loaded him on my own, which I've done before, so he was perfect. I drove by myself over an hour to a friends place, which was my first visit to her new home.

:(

Jack has Laminitis :( but ive been told that he isnt too bad and should be better really soon. my poor boy!

Princess (AAA Killara's Rapt in Silk) Extreme snowcap bay appy mare.

a big new adventure- with pictures :o)

So, I've leased a broodmare! I was offered a lovely 13 year old appy mare to breed from, and after a long hard think, I've decided to go ahead with it, mostly because of the timing and the oportunity to have a foal from this absolutely darling sweet stunning mare. Princess as we call her, is an extreme snowcap bay appy- otherwise known as a fewspot- with the most perfect temperament and conformation.

Unarmed cowboy rides again

My name is Chuck Petersen. I live in Deer Lodge Montana. Recently I purchased, 1/2, program from Parelli. I am going to give this program a try. I love watching it on video. My concern is however, I have no arms and do everything with my feet. My horses already cue into my feet when it is time for treats. They don't check my pockets but they check my shoes for the goodies. My main concern is handling the tools required for this program. I have accomplished many things in my life. However, having a relationship with my horse like I have seen others have is a dream come true.

May 23 2011 Breeze

May 23, 11

I've only owned this mare since March 2011. So we are just starting to get to know each other. This mare was out of control when I got her. She would chase her previous owner out of the round pen. She had learned to blow up when she would not understand what was being asked of her. Then she quickly fiqured out that this solved the problem, because, the problem, ...her people, would leave her alone.

Stick to Me @ Canter ...

..WE DID IT! :)
