Circle of strength-#one
My name is Chuck. I live in Montana. I am a retired special education teacher. I currently have two horses. I have a 13 year old paint mare, and a 15-year-old gray mare.
I have been a fan of the Parelli method for many years. However, I have never yet tried the method. The reason why I never tried the method is that there are so many tools to use. This is a concern of mine because I have no arms and do everything with my feet. I do have a little stump with three crooked fingers that I am able to hold things with. My friend uses the Parelli method and I see all the fun she is having. Thus, I have decided to give it a try and see how it goes.
Today I started with my gray mare Star. The porcupine game went well and she backs up very easy for me. Next we tried that friendly game. I found no weak spots on her where she showed apprehension. I was excited about that. I have used another method before and she sticks to me like glue. The next thing I tried to do was the circles. I haven't figured out how to point holding the rope with one leg, and balancing long enough to use the carrot stick on the proper zone to get her to move. What she does is she comes right to me and sticks to me. It appears I have some problem solving to do. The story of my life. I have always had to do things differently, so I will come up with a strategy eventually. Until I do will work with my other horse Flicka. I want to see how far I can get with her. If anyone has any ideas on how to do online circles I am wide open to help.
