Africa: Our Journey #56 A Perfect Day!
I went out to the barn right after lunch. A few clouds were scudding across the blue sky. The sun was hot but the trees were rustling in the wind. It was a perfect day!
Africa was grazing in his pasture when I drove down the lane and waiting at the gate when I walked out of the barn with his halter.
For the last couple of weeks, we have been riding bareback with his hackamore. I'm wanting a better connection with him while riding, so I've been paying attention to my balance point. I'm trying to keep that balance point 'glued' to his back.
With the day as beautiful as it was we went outside to walk around the field next to the barn. I mostly let him decide where to go and this time he headed to our secret path into the neighboring field. The cut hay that lay in the field drying the other day had been collected. We were free to use the area.
Africa came into his smooth traveling gait that glides over the surface of the ground. Then as if it was effortless he moved into a smooth, rocking canter. We were 'glued' (connected) to each other for moments of oneness. It was a perfect day!
