Pony Play
Even in this foul weather you can have the best moments with your horses- today was the single best day I have ever had with my pony.
In a short break in the heavy rain we've been torrented with I went up to see my pony Noah- he's my little rising 4 yr old 10.2 red leopard paulouse gelding- extreme LBE! Instead of the usual arena stuff, ball, online, liberty I put him on a 22' and went into the big horse paddock (Noah lives with 2 other mini's in the Jenny Craig paddock) where there's a little creek from the run-off and fallen trees, even some curious little sheep on the other side of the fence. We played sqeeze between a tree and fence, we played in the stream, cheked out the sheep, but then we came across 2 fallen trees, one on the ground and one just a bit higher. So Noah and I learned to jump. After the first few fails, scraping feet etc on the lower branch he figured out how to measure up the jump needed to clear it and bam- instant superstar! His guage was perfect, he tucked his hinds right up and even from standstill had a perfect arc over the small tree. So we moved the the slightly bigger one, I didn't even have to ask he just went for it. The look in his tiny face was pure joy! I pointed, he leaped. I think he had more fun than I did, and that is why today was such a diamond in the rough. I love these days that stand out in your memory from all the other great days you spend with your precious partners- these days are wonderful, delightful, heartwarming, special and seem to have a way of occuring just when you really need them. Thanks Noah you are my little gem!
